Alpine Ski Instructor Level 2 Course at Ruka

In the Alpine Ski Instructor 2 course, we deepen our knowledge of skiing and teaching. The course is based on interaction between the course participants and the trainer, and it utilizes teaching experience gained after the level 1 instructor course.

To participate in the Instructor Level 2 course, you must have:

  • Successfully completed FNASI (or other equivalent) Alpine Ski Instructor 1 course
  • Acquired knowledge and skills equivalent to the SPR First Aid 1
  • Reflected on 25 hours of teaching (20 hours if the level 1 course was completed in 2012 or earlier)

Course duration on snow is seven days and the course contains both theory lessons and practical lessons. Participation requires full time attention (morning to evening). Participants will receive a detailed agenda before the course begins. Besides on-snow studies, the course contains online orientation period (8hrs) before the course and final reflection (4hrs) after the course.

  • Alpine skiing gear (+ twintips if possible)
  • Helmet
  • Laptop, tablet, or smartphone for taking the theory exam

Price 500 €, includes training and course material
(Does not include lift pass, meals and accommodation.)

Accommodation at Ruka in the ski school hut Susu (Hiihtokouluntie 2, walking distance from the slopes) is available at 14 euros per night. Susu has sauna, cooking and laundry facilities. Guests have to bring their own linen and towel. If you wish to stay at Susu, please contact

The course is arranged by Summer University of Northern Ostrobothnia in cooperation with Kuusamo- opisto, Finnish National Association of Ski Instructors (FNASI) and Ruka Ski School (RHK ry).

Registration dead-line and details

Register by 2.11.2023 with the registration link below. Seats will be filled in registration order.
Maximum participant count is 10 people.
After the registration the participant will receive the course agenda and invoice on the course fee once the course has been confirmed.

Registration is binding. Cancellation is possible until the registration dead-line. After this dead-line the cancellation will be charged at 50% of the course fee. If cancellation is not done but the registered participant does not show up, the course fee will be charged in full.
